All eyes on March! Actually, all eyes on Nicolas Ghesquière!

That’s right, Ghesquière’s first collection for Louis Vuitton will come out March of next year. His name might sound familiar, not because it’s common, but because he previously designed for the Spanish fashion house Balenciaga.

So who is Nicolas Ghesquière?

He is better known for his strong sense of silhouette; pairing skinny pants with big, voluminous blouses. Still honoring Cristóbal Balenciaga’s legacy, Ghesquière was able to turn the fashion house into a critically acclaimed atelier; entering when he was only 25-years-old.

In November 2012, he announced he was leaving after 15 years. He joined Louis Vuitton almost one year to the date after leaving Balenciaga. Ghesquière succeeds Marc Jacobs, who left Vuitton to continue expanding his own line.

Ghesquière will bring a very feminine look to Louis Vuitton, a change for the rapidly growing brand and it’s famous monogramed textiles.

“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration,” Ghesquière told Woman’s Wear Daily. “I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”
